I visited the High Museum of Art yesterday to see the Picasso to Warhol exhibit, which I can now say is fantastic. The exhibit features fourteen artists (Picasso, Warhol, Mondrian, Matisse, Chirico, Pollock, Calder, Duchamp, Miró, Johns, Bearden, Léger, Bourgeois, and Brancusi). I was surprised by my reaction to the Pollock pieces, because while I have been slightly indifferent to his work in the past, it stimulated me the most. Seeing his work in person is a completely different experience. The entire exhibit was great, though.
I also took the time to see the KAWS pieces that are on display. The vibrancy is unreal, definitely eye candy.
After that I strolled through the permanent galleries, visiting the work of artists such as Howard Finster, representing my hometown.
I can’t believe the only other time I have visited the museum was five years ago. Time really does fly by.
